  • Collaboration with the City of Burlington, Halton Region, and Province of Ontario is an essential aspect for the overall development approach to foster mutual understanding and alignment on the shared goals to enhance the community. 


  • Alinea and its consultant team will continue to conduct thorough research and engage with local authorities to ensure consideration of all Planning Approvals throughout every stage of the existing and proposed City-initiated planning for the Appleby GO Major Transit Station Areas (MTSA). 


  • We fully support Burlington’s commitment to address housing shortage which is aligned with Ontario’s growth objectives and such have proposed a variety of housing typologies proposed ranging from 4-50 storeys in height.  


  • As part of the Appleby GO Station Major Transit Station Area (MTSA), Appleby GO West can appropriately accommodate intensification for the City of Burlington and support Burlington’s provincial housing pledge of 29,000 units.   • Appleby GO West will feature a diverse mix of retail and community tenants, including community facilities, neighbourhood essentials, and unique food experiences. These businesses will be carefully curated to complement existing offerings in the area while addressing the needs of residents and visitors. 


  • Appleview Plaza will continue to operate as it currently does and is not being redeveloped any time soon, no leases are being terminated.  Appleview Plaza will continue to operate at it does today for the next 15+ years. 


  • The phasing approach will generally begin west and move east and then southeast. As the project progresses a more detailed phasing plan will be developed in a thoughtful and collaborative manner. Retail opportunities will be available in advance of changes to Appleview Plaza and those existing retail tenants in Appleview Plaza are valued members of our community and will be given first opportunity to relocate their businesses into this new development.   


  • As part of the comprehensive transportation study, mitigation strategies such as improvements to roadway infrastructure, active transportation facilities, and transit service, will be implemented to manage the impact of additional travel demands on the surrounding transportation network. The study will identify the transportation improvements needed to support this transit-oriented development, including measures to promote walking, cycling, and local and regional public transit. 


  • Alinea will ensure regular communication with the surrounding community is maintained throughout the development and construction process to address concerns. Construction activities will be conducted during designated hours to minimize disruption to nearby residents. 


  • The development will prioritize the integration of various recreational amenities to cater to the diverse needs and interests of this multi-generational neighbourhood while enhancing the overall quality of life in the community. This includes a variety of parks and open spaces that will provide playgrounds, seating areas, flexible play, event and gathering space, dog runs, and several other features that will promote engaging outdoor activities and leisure.  


  • Parks and outdoor spaces will also be carefully integrated to provide recreational opportunities, promote physical activity, and offer green spaces for relaxation and social interaction. Additionally, these outdoor areas will contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the development and help create a more sustainable and livable environment for residents and visitors alike. 


  • We support Burlington’s commitment to address housing shortage which is aligned with Ontario’s growth objectives. By offering a variety of housing typologies and tenures, including purpose built rental, and focusing on diversity and inclusivity, Appleby GO West aims to create a vibrant community that caters to all.  


  • We are in the early stages of the planning process. The full development will be built out over the course of multiple phases
